Fear not Mary for thou hast found favor with God.

And meantime 600 years later back in Jerusalem, Lehi’s home town…

 “… the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee named Nazareth to a Virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph of the house of David and the virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel came unto her and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

“And when she saw him she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

“And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary for thou hast found favor with God. And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus, He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David.”  (Luke 1: 26 - 32 )

Behold, I give unto youa sign...

And now it came to pass in the eighty and sixth year, the Nephites did still remain in wickedness... And it came to pass that in this year there was one Samuel, a Lamanite, came into the land of Zarahemia and began to preach unto the people... “(Helaman 13:1 & 2)

“And Behold, he said unto them, Behold, I give unto you a sign; for five years more cometh , and behold then cometh the Son of God to redeem all those who shall believe on his name.” (Helaman 14:2)

“Therefore, there shall be one day and a night and a day, as if it were one day and there were no day night; and this shall be unto you for a sign…There shall be two days and a night nevertheless the night shall not be darkened; and it shall be the night before he is born. And behold there shall a new star arise, such an one as ye never have beheld; and this also shall be a sign unto you... And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall believe on the Son of God the same shall have everlasting life.” (Helaman 14: 4-5 & 8)

His name shall be Jesus Christ, the Son of God

Nephi said, “For according to the words of the prophets, the Messiah cometh in six hundred years from the time that my father left Jerusalem; and according to the words of the prophets and also the word of the angel of God, his name shall be Jesus Christ, the Son of God.” 2 Nephi 25:19)

...save Christ should come all men must perish.

“…My soul delighteth in proving unto my people that save Christ should come all men must perish.” (2 Nephi 11: 6)

Nephi wrote this about 559 BC.  Today the message that Christ came, that he died for our sins, and that he will come again is as important as it was in Nephi’s time. It is a message to be received individually and personally.  A message to be shared and cherished it gives purpose to our lives. Christ brings light to our souls that enriches and guides us to the end.    

For unto us a child is born

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called. Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.” (2 Nephi 19:6) 

Do you hear music? I did. The music to Handel’s Messiah. Nephi also joys in the words of  Isaiah as do we in this day joy in Handle’s music.

Nephi a prophet of the Lord left Jerusalem 600 AD with his father Lehi and was brought by the Lord to this land we call America. It’s the same message about the one and only Father in Heaven who sent his son, a new born child to save us.

Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

“Behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14) Immanuel means “God with you.” And indeed with the birth of Jesus God came down from Heaven to dwell in a mortal body to live among men and set in order his kingdom on earth.

In Jerusalem, 600 BC,  Lehi a man of God had a vision of a virgin. The angel in the vision “said unto me (Lehi) Behold, the virgin whom thou seest is the mother of the Son of God…. And I looked and beheld the virgin again, bearing a child in her arms… And the angel said unto me. Behold the Lamb of God.”  (1 Neph 11:18-32)

Lehi being instructed of God took with his family, their scriptures (which included Isaiah) along with other records and one other individual began the journey to the ocean. There they built a vessel according to the directions given them by God even as Noah built the ark. They were brought to the American continent. These are the Ancestors of the American Indians who thought Columbus was the Great White God or Christ whose coming was foretold.
