Pray daily

“Wo unto all who die in their sins, for they shall return to God and behold his face and remain in their sins.” (2 Nephi 9:28)

This is why we need to pray daily, to give an accounting for our actions at the end of each day. We need to repent, and repair the night before to start each new day with a clean slate. We never know when our time will be up or what will be required of us. Sunday our day of rest helps us renew our strength, that we may enter into his peace.   May joy and peace be yours today.  

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

As I speed read the BOM during the next 12 weeks I pick out the phrases that jump out at me and this is it today.  “And none shall be destroyed that believe in him.”( 2 Nephi6:14)

The beginning is that “God created the heavens and the earth.”  (Geneses 1:1) And promised us a Savior and in the meridian of time “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that who so believe in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) We are now in the end time. The gospel has been restored and the distance between good and evil is becoming greater. Eventually the cleansing of the earth will come. The wicked shall be destroyed in that everlasting gulf of misery, but none shall be destroyed that believe in him.

In those days of turmoil many will pass from mortality into immortality (physical death), but those that know Christ will be made alive in God’s kingdom. Even from the beginning of time man has died after the manner of the flesh, but because of the atonement of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we need not fear death if we believe in him.      

I will be your light in the wilderness

It is strange but I do not read my scriptures on Sunday. Not the scriptures for my personal study anyway. As a result I am behind in my scripture reading on my 90 day challenge. In my “catch- up- reading” today I choose 1 Nephi 17:13.  “And I will also be your light in the wilderness, and I will prepare the way before you if it so be that ye shall keep my commandments.”

Isn’t this earth life a wilderness? And don’t we call to him like lost sheep who has lost their way.

Blessed are they...if they endure unto the end

“And blessed are they who shall seek to bring forth my Zion at that day, for they shall have the gift and the power of the Holy Ghost; and if they endure unto the end they shall be lifted up at the last day….” (1 Nephi 13:37)

I had desired to know...

“I had desired to know the things that my father had seen and believing that the Lord was able to make them known unto me, as I sat pondering in mine heart I was carried away in the Spirit of the Lord.” (1 Nephi 11: 1)

First we need to desire to know, or to be better, or whatever is good, and to believe the Lord is able to provide the thing we desire then we can receive. 

He is the same yesterday, today and forever

“For he (God) is the same yesterday, today, and forever and the way is prepared for all men from the foundation of the world, if it so be that they repent and come unto him.” (1 Nephi 19:18) (Hebrews 8”13) This is the gospel, the truth, the way and the light. It is so simple that even a child can understand it. It is the essence of life, our purpose in being here. God is in control. He knows the beginning from the end. He has not left us alone, he sent his Son to sink below us with the burden of our sins and rise again to save us.
