We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; in deed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul ... if there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

How long O Lord? How long?

I have for a long time, been intrigued by the word ‘rest,’ and how it is used in the scriptures. As simple as the word is I am especially interested in its use having to do with things celestial … tiny glimpse into heaven. Today’s scripture is an excellent example of that.
“And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held. And they cried with a loud voice saying How long O Lord, holy and true, doest thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
“And white robes were given unto every one of them, and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season until their fellow servants also and their brethren that should be killed as they were should be fulfilled.” (Revelations 7: 9-11)
How impatience I am sometimes, but these souls have waited so much longer than my span of time on the earth. All things in the Lord’s time or all is for naught.
