“Then said Jesus unto them, when ye have lifted up the Son
of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but
as my Father hath taught me I speak these things. And he that sent me is with
me. The Father hath not left me alone, for I do always those things that please
him.” (St John 8; 28 & 29)
None of us are as perfect as Jesus, the Son of man, and yet
I believe that the Father has not left me alone. When the heavens seem closed
to me and I have a hard time getting in the mood to pray, it is I who has
turned away. It is I who has focused on some bauble or thing of the world, and
forgotten my Lord. It is I who has not done those things that please him.
