We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; in deed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul ... if there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Work

“It was easy to guard them while at their labor.” (Alma 53:5) Captin Moroni’s army took a large number of the Lamanites as prisoners, but he could not spare many men to guard them. He put them to work fortifying the city, and building their own prison, because it was easy to guard them while they were working.
I thought about our children as we endeavor to guard them against evil. If we can evolve them in useful labor, daily chores, family projects, gardening, building, community service projects, helping neighbors and etc, it is a lot easier to guard them from the bad stuff.

We pray and we teach

“Now they never had fought yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them.” (Alma 56:47)
They did not fear death because their mothers taught them God would deliver them. We try.

Don't stop praying

“They had wars, and blood shed and famine and affliction, for the space of many years. And there had been murders and contentions, and dissensions, and all manner of iniquity among the people of Nephi; nevertheless, for the righteous sake, yea, because of the prayers of the righteous, they were spared.” (Alma 62: 39-40)
This was written sometime around 50 BC by people who lived on the American continent. Not much has changed in all that time. We still have contentions and all manner of iniquity upon the face of this land, and still today because of the prayers of the righteous we can be spared.  Don’t stop praying.
