“In the commencement of the first year of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah," (600 BC) Nephi records that many prophets came prophesying that Jerusalem would be destroyed. His father, Lehi prayed about the manner and received revelation and direction to take his family out of Jerusalem into the wilderness. From there the Lord directed them to build a ship, after the manner he directed, that he would carry his people across the water.
Isaiah had prophesied that the Messiah would come and Nephi quoted that scripture in 2 Nephi 17:14. In 83 BC the prophet Alma prophesied that the child would be born in the land of their forefathers.
And so it was that . . .
3 Nephi 1:13 and 21
“Lift up your head and be of good cheer: for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall the sign be given . . . And it came to pass also that a new star did appear, according to the word.”
