We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; in deed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul ... if there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Topic:Gifts; Mark 7:10-12

"For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whosoever curseth father or mother, let him die the death; But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free. And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother"

I couldn't find the reference book this morning but apparently, some people gave their land and important belongings as gifts to their parents. That way when the tax collector came they could say, Oh, that belongs to my father. Or maybe it was their tithe. Oh, I don't need to tithe on my store's increase; I gifted the store to my parents. Anyway, the gift was a liability not a gift. What do you mean I don't do anything for my parents? I gave them my land.
