We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; in deed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul ... if there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Having a great desire to know of the mysteries of God...

I have taken the 90 day challenge to read the Book of Mormon. Today being the first day of that challenge I have read the first three chapters of 1 Nephi. From that I have chosen one verse that kinda jumped out at me. “And it came to pass that I Nephi being exceedingly young, nevertheless being large in stature,  and also having a great desire to know of the mysteries of God wherefore, I did cry unto the Lord; and behold he did visit me, and did soften my heart that I did  believe all the words which had been spoken by my father; wherefore, I did not rebel against him like unto my brothers.” (1 Nephi 2:16)
I suppose that Nephi felt he felt that because he was young and had not had the schooling nor experience of his father. Nevertheless, he was large in stature or in other words he was big enough to understand things, I think is what he means here. Certainly he was old enough to understand that he could talk to the Lord about it. “He says I did cry unto the Lord and he did visit me.”
So I have to ask myself, when was the last time the Lord visited me? Whether it was Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost, an angel or spiritual messenger who visited me,  it is the same. Actualy it wasn’t too long ago, when I knelt to pray, and needed some direction He was there. In fact I had picked out another scripture but was impressed to use this one instead. The Lord does hear us and will guide us in our everyday decisions if we tune in to him and ask. He will soften our hearts that we might believe his words, that we might not rebel, and that we might be blessed with his Spirit to be with us.
