We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; in deed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul ... if there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

I am the Father and the Son

The book of Ether truly is among my most favorite. I love the faith and humility of the brother of Jared. He wasn’t a perfect man and like many of us he went through a period of time where he became lax in his relationship with God. The Lord came down and talked with him for a period of three hours, and chastened him, the scriptures say, because he forgot to call upon the Lord. At least he had enough faith that he could hear the Lord. I became deaf in my coasting, as I called it, and it took several good servants of the Lord to reach me. I am so grateful for them.
The brother of Jared had enough faith that he saw the finger of the Lord. I am amazed by this and so grateful we have this record. There are many things we learn from the record of this experience, but this morning I focus on one. “I am Jesus Christ. I am the Father and the Son. In me shall all mankind have life and that eternally, even they who shall believe on my name; and they shall become my sons and my daughters.”  (Ether 3:14)
