We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; in deed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul ... if there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Can you move mountains?

Jesus said that if ye had faith and doubted not if ye say unto the mountain be ye removed and cast into the sea it shall be. (Matthew 21:21)   I have heard and seen some people take this literally without thought of by what power or why the mountain should be removed.  It is literal, but it’s not that simple. I have not seen any mountains flying by on their way to the sea.
What if I want to go to Illinois from Utah, but I don’t want to go through the mountains. Can I move them out of the way for a day and then put them back. Oh, so there is more to it than that. Maybe it has something to do with some law like personal gain or God’s will I don’t know, but I have absolute faith that if God wanted those mountains to move they would disappear.
In a verse before Matthew 21:21 Jesus cursed the fig tree. I’ve heard different ones speculate on why he did so. One individual even stated that Jesus sinned three times. When he cursed the fig tree, when he drove the money changers out of the Temple, and I don’t remember the third time anymore. Chasing out the money changers is a no brainier. They were polluting his Father’s house and he would have sinned if he had let them stay, but I don’t know why he cursed the fig tree. It had no fruit and therefore was not fulfilling the measure of its creation, sounds like part of the reason, but it seems to me there might have been more to it than that.
I think the lesson that some miss here, is that we can perform miracles with God’s power in accordance with his laws.
