We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; in deed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul ... if there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Is Salvation Free?

In Matthew 23 the Lord really tells it like it is. Yesterday I mentioned an individual who claimed that Christ sinned three times. Perhaps this is the third time when there might be some confusion about his motives.
It is absolutely true that Jesus loves us, and the truth shall make us free, but salvation is not free. It is extremely painful sometimes – even after Christ has paid the price for us we still have to repent. We still have to give away all our sins and depending on how entrenched those sins are in our lives they can be excruciating to give up. It is not easy. As wonderful as love is it also brings great sorrow. When someone we love commits sin, when we commit sin and have to repent, it causes us great pain. Sometimes it seems to us that it is easier to continue down the road we are on rather than face where we’ve been. We may say things like its too late for me. That is exactly what Satan wants you to believe along with other lies.
Christ after telling them all the outward things they do to appear holy then he says, “(Ye) have omitted the weightier maters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith. These ye ought to have done and not to leave the other undone.” (Matthew 23:23)
