We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; in deed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul ... if there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Does the Lord really answer our prayers speedily?

One of the most overlooked parables in the Bible is the parable of the widow and the unjust Judge. The widow cried unto the Judge to avenge her of her adversary troubling him. The Judge himself being unjust had no reason to help her, but because she continually wearied him he did. “Then shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them. I tell you he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth.” (Luke 18:1 – 9)
The Lord does answer our righteous and sincere prayers speedily. It seems a long time when we are praying for things that require another person’s agency or other things we don’t understand. Even then I think our loving concern helps for an individual whose problems of which we know not the depth and berth. We may not see the change because we want the individual to fit into some description we call normal.
For example, my husband suffered for thirteen years with depression, but would not get help because he himself had a PHD in Psychology. I don’t think my thirteen years of praying for him was wasted. I think that despite his depression he had bright spots because of those prayers. He never got the medication for the specific cause of his depression because that was his choice. Neither  I nor the Lord could do anything about that.
