“I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds
will I write them; and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.” (Hebrews
10: 16-17)
I used to forgive the unbeliever for their wrong doings
because not knowing Jesus Christ I assumed they didn’t know any better. One day
after someone had done something mean, I said, aloud, “That’s all right. They
didn’t know any better.” The individual I said this to set me straight. They
said something like, “I don’t care who they are that was mean.”
We all come here with the laws imprinted in our hearts and
minds. Gradually it gets muddled so that we learn new rules. A very long time
ago I watched a documentary on gang mentality. One of the individuals being
interviewed said something to the effect that the first time he killed someone in a gang war it
bothered him a lot. The second time it was easier, and now he didn’t think
twice about it. We all came here from the same place. We all have the same Father in Heaven and some day we will be called upon to face him again. Having had his law written on our hearts it is still there as a part of our identity. We can justify the mean things and excuse what we do, but the law is still there.
More recently I watched a documentary that showed that
babies knew right from wrong. Using dolls they role played one doll attacking
the other. They would then offer both dolls to the baby and without exception
the babies would chose the doll that had been innocently attacked.
