We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; in deed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul ... if there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

RAD and AA

More on Christ like love. When Christ took our sins upon him he did it out of love and not because we deserved it. Not deserving it however, does not make us bad people. I personally do not believe in bad people. I believe that we were all good and holy when we came from heaven. Once here things happened. It is really hard to walk into a coal mine in sparkling white clothes and not get smudges of coal dust on us. Likewise it is difficult to leave heaven and come to earth without making a few mistakes. That is why Christ loved us so much that he could do this wonderful thing for us.
I’ve been reading about RAD which is attachment disorder (forgot what the R stands for) and basically it turns out that the cure for RAD is unconditional Love. Isn’t it also strange that the cure for addictions is the twelve step program which starts out with us admitting that we are unable to change ourselves without the help of God or a higher power.
Attachment disorder usually happens in childhood when a child is neglected, abandoned, and/or abused.  I think I even see symptoms of RAD in myself since my husband of 43 years died. The result of this disorder is that the individual is unable to accept love or attach in a normal way to another individual.  A child I know often says to me. “How much do you love me?” And then will ask for money or a favor.  I have started saying “I love you no matter what. That has nothing to do with if I give you money or drive you somewhere.”  In the mind of a RAD child love is how you react to me. Therefore they cannot accept that Christ atoned for them freely out of love. So they are caught in a trap and love is both the problem and the answer.
