We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; in deed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul ... if there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Glory, grace and truth make us beautiful.

My scripture reading takes me to John 1:14 this morning. Have I said before how much I love the book of John? Only twenty or thirty times and this verse is no exception. “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
He speaks here of Christ who the scriptures, the word, prophesied would come. He came not only in Spirit but in flesh and blood the same as each of us have. We beheld his glory. One of the terms the dictionary gives to describe glory is the bliss of heaven. Other words are joy, brightness, and splendor. If we are “saved,” we are full of glory, but the world tarnishes our brightness. Daily we need to pray, forgive and be forgiven, drink deeply from the fountain of truth, (in other words read the scriptures) that we might be full of grace and truth. Words used to describe grace are benevolent, mercy, good works, and in favor with God.
Actually having glory, grace, and truth makes us beautiful.  I saw on fb pictures that show the effect drugs has on people to age them beyond their years. It is so true. No amount of makeup, or exercise, or expensive clothes can hide the effects of sin. Internal beauty is far healthy and lasting.
