We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; in deed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul ... if there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Don’t try to be perfect, but to draw unto Christ.

As Christ prayed for his church leaders, apostles  and disciples he said, “I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.”
Are we, as believers of Christ, of the world? Are we modest in our appearance and behavior? Whether we realize it or not, who we are and what we really believe is made known by the way we live our lives. Are we the same behind closed doors as we are in public morally speaking?  Do we dress and act one way in public, but at home become a different person. I’m not talking about ratty work clothes or curlers in the hair. I’m referring to honesty, respect and kindness at home. I’m saying that if we truly believe in Christ we follow him. Yes, we fail sometimes, but we repent, forgive ourselves and try again.
The road to perfection takes more than a life time. The important thing is are we trying to be Christ like. Don’t try to be perfect, but to draw unto Christ.  Where is our focus?  On appearance or on the heart? Change the heart, the focus to Christ and forget about appearance and about being perfect.
I absolutely love what Sister Linda Reeves said in last conference, April 2014  “How do we protect (ourselves, our families) our children and youth? … ‘We talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ (and) we prophesy of Christ … that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins” 2 Nephi:25:26.
Remember she said they prayed for help and the answer came – “It is OK if the house is a mess and the children are still in their pajamas and some responsibilities are left undone. The only thing that really needs to be accomplished in the home are daily scripture study and prayer and weekly family home evening.”
